FEBRUARY 14-22, 2021

Next month, we're launching a series of events for our 2021 Citywide Assembly! Join us as we bring together members and our wider community from February 14th-22nd.

The assembly is a core part of Ujima’s governance and organizational structure. We use our assemblies as a vehicle for shared decision making to shape the future of our neighborhoods. The Assembly is complemented with spaces for art, culture, care and learning!

TONIGHT at 6PM: MEMBER TEAM PEER LEARNING WORKSHOP

Our next Ujima Financial & Political Education Workshop is tonight, Wednesday, January 13th, from 6:00pm-8:30pm.

  • 6:00PM-7:15PM #CoLearn: This Wednesday we're engaging in reflection and discussion with our first Member Team Peer Learning Session. Representatives from the Timebank and UNESG Member Teams will give us insight into their 2020 wins, challenges, and lessons. We'll have space for questions about cooperative work and processes afterward.

Sunday February 14 | Black Instrumentation: Live Music Event | 5:30-6:30PM

We’re kicking off our series by celebrating Black music with the Black Cotton Club.

Monday February 15 | Ujima's Open House and Open Call Event | 6:30-8:30PM

Visit the Ujima Project staff and members at our open house event. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about our organization, membership, solidarity economy and more!

Tuesday February 16 | Neighborhood Needs Workshop | 6:30-8:30PM

Ujima is driven by the belief that we know what our communities need. Help us develop a plan for the future of Boston at this workshop where we will discuss community economics, investment, and what we think our city needs to thrive. This event is one of two premiere events of the week along with the City Assembly.

Thursday February 18 | Citywide Assembly | 6:30-8:30PM

The assembly is a core part of Ujima’s governance and organizational structure. We use our assemblies as an opportunity for shared decision making to shape the future of our neighborhoods! This event is one of two premiere events, along with the Neighborhood Needs Workshop. During the Assembly we will deliberate, discuss and ratify Ujima’s Citywide Investment Plan.

Friday February 19 | Experimental Performative Lecture | 6:30-8:30PM

We’ll be joined by two prominent Black, queer artists in conversation around art and community. This event will be followed by a house music DJ set.

Sunday February 21 | Transnational Organizing Panel Discussion | 1:00-2:30PM

A roundtable discussion with organizers from around the world on mutual aid, community building, solidarity economy and care as praxis.

Sunday February 21 | Community Grieving + Memorial Event | 4:00-5:00PM

Join community members in fellowship as we remember, celebrate and venerate our new ancestors.

Monday February 22 | #BlackTrust: Chuck Turner Arts + Lecture Series | 6:30-8:30

Black Trust: Chuck Turner Arts and Lecture Series brings community together to discuss concepts which frame the relationships in a community — trust, belief, and faith. Black Trust is creating a space for people to learn, trust, and believe in each other.
